Every day we are a bit closer to retirement and the uncertainty of where income will come when we are no longer willing or in some cases able to work for it. Personally, I have been looking forward to this but with huge amount of uncertainty around how I would be able to pull it off. There is a lot written on how to invest and save but comparatively fewer resources on a withdrawal or income strategy without running out of money too quickly.
The classic 4% rule is probably a good place to start as a general guide and there are insurance products like annuities that attempt do this at considerable cost – but there just isn’t one solution that would work for everyone and every situation. This is I am thinking about it for information purposes and is not any kind of financial advice. I am no expert and my situation is fairly unusual so it is unlikely what I am thinking or trying would work for you.
